 competitions, Oswego County's northern communities will celebrate winter's 
 rugged beauty in a flurry of activities the weekend of Feb. 6, 7 and 8. The
  public is welcome to join in.<br />Salmon River Winter Festival</p><p>The 
 village of Pulaski hosts a three-day Salmon River Winter Festival with a fu
 ll slate of activities. The event kicks off Friday with a community night a
 t the Kallet Theater. Local music legend Steve Woolson and Friends, featuri
 ng Charlie Tanguma, performs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Mike Faulkner's Homer 
 and the Finns will perform from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Doors open at 6 p.m.
  Admission is $2 per person with proceeds benefitting the Pulaski school di
 strict student groups.</p><p>On Saturday, Feb. 7, Selkirk Shores State Park
  hosts a 5k snowshoe run and 3 or 5k walk starting at 9 a.m. The event feat
 ures a thrilling hiking course over mixed rolling and flat terrain, through
  hardwood and hemlock forests, creek-side habitats and majestic bluffs over
 looking Lake Ontario. Walkers will start five minutes after runners. The ev
 ent wraps up with a bonfire and cocoa, coffee and prizes at the historic pa
 rk pavilion. Registration is $10 per person in advance, and $15 on race day
 . There is no fee for children under age 12. Snowshoe rentals are available

 s-5k.</p><p>Hardy souls are challenged to take an "icicle dip" in the Salmo
 n River at 1 p.m. The event takes place in the river access area off the Ma
 ple Avenue parking lot, at the end of the fence line, behind the End Zone S
 ports Bar. Teams are encouraged. Register before 10 a.m. at the Camping Wor
 ld RV parking lot. Warming tents and towels will be available on the site. 
 The event is sponsored by Camping World, PROP, Edward Jones Investments, an
 d the End Zone Sports Bar.</p><p>Also on Saturday there will be free movies
  and crafts for children from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kallet Theater. Show
  times are 11 a.m. for "Snow Dogs" and 2 p.m. for "Snow Day." There will be
  free crafts activities for children Saturday at the back of the theater.</
 p><p>Admission is free.</p><p>Beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Pulaski Ma
 sons will sell their famous chicken barbecue at the South Park. There will 
 also be a craft show and sale at the Pulaski Masonic Hall on Broad Street f
 rom 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Saturday.</p><p>Families and artists can show off thei
 r creative talents in a snowman and snow sculpture contest from 10 a.m. to 
 4 p.m., sponsored by Designs of Elegance Florist and Frontier Communication
 s, in the South Park Saturday. Entry forms will be distributed through the 
 schools. There is a $1 entry fee. Judging will be at 5 p.m. Saturday.</p><p
 >From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, hardy festivalgoers will sample and vote for
  their favorite variety of chili at local bars, restaurants and lodges in a
  Chili Walk Competition. Ten establishments will take part in the contest. 
 Ballots are $5 each and allow a person to visit each establishment and cast
  their vote for their favorite chili.</p><p>There will be free cocoa served
  all weekend at several locations around the village, courtesy of Paul DeLi
 ma Company of Syracuse. Refills are free with the purchase of a $5 mug, or 
 bring last year's mug.</p><p>The Pulaski Historical Society hosts an open h
 ouse with free cocoa and coffee from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There will
  be a special display on weather-related information and the new Arcadia Im
 ages of America book on Pulaski's history will be available for purchase.</
 p><p>The second annual Family Magic Show takes place at the public library 
 at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.</p><p>Festivities continue Sunday
 , Feb. 8, with a Wing Walk Competition from noon to 5 p.m. at various locat
 ions. Ballots are $5 each and provide tasters with two wings at five local

  starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The event is sponso
 red by the International Weight Pull Association Region 5 which encompasses
