A free public artist's reception will take place at 5 p.m. March 28 in Tyler Art Galley on the SUNY Oswego campus. The exhibition will run through April 19.

     Taitt's Master of Art Exhibition -- which will include audio and projected imagery -- derives its message from historic images in the New York Public Library collection. The Brooklyn native, inspired by the death of Trayvon Martin, altered and personalized these photos of slavery's victims for "Identity."

     Taitt also received bachelor's degrees in studio art and public relations at Oswego.

     Using light to create halo-like effects, Taitt said in an artist's statement that he "seeks to resurrect, glorify and elevate (the) anonymous subjects who were victims of slavery and its sanctioned physical abuse."

     A companion show, "Generations IV: A Master of Arts in Teaching Exhibition," opens Friday, March 14, and runs through April 19.
