Write a commentIlene E. Schmidt, 88, a resident of Oswego, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the Katherine Luther Nursing Home in Clinton.
She was born in Oswego, a daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Giddings) Schmidt Sr.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed in the offices of the Treasurer and County Clerk for the county of Oswego.
She was a former member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She always looked forward to playing Bridge and Bunko with her lady friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Kaplan, and her husband Phil, of Ithaca, and Diana Snow, of Forth Worth, Texas and Pulaski; a son, David Orr and his wife, Paula, of Oneida; Paula's daughters, Jennifer and Heather Eddy; three brothers, Harold Schmidt, of Oswego, Frederick Schmidt, of California, and Robert Schmidt, of Mexico; two grandchildren, Alan and Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 16, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., in Oswego.
