Write a commentOswego County STOP-DWI Coordinator David Hall announced that law enforcement agencies and STOP-DWI programs across the state will join forces to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving ahead of Super Bowl LX.
The state’s STOP-DWI “High Visibility Engagement Campaign” runs from Sunday, Feb. 8 through Monday, Feb. 9.
“The Super Bowl is America’s most watched national sporting event and Super Bowl weekend is historically a deadly period for impaired driving,” said Hall. “While we want people to enjoy watching the game with their friends and family, we also want to make sure that they – and others on the roadway – get home safely.
“Drinking and driving is not only against the law, but it can be deadly,” he added. “Do your part to prevent impaired driving. Just take a few minutes to download the ‘Have a Plan’ mobile app and you’ll always be able to find a safe ride home.”
STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaigns are one of many statewide initiatives promoted by the STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee to reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving. These efforts also target St. Patrick’s Day, 420 Drug Day, 100 days of summer (including Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day/end of summer), Halloween, Thanksgiving and the December holiday season.
