I’m Glen Stratton, and I am running for Oswego County Legislative District 3.
I grew up in Florida, I come from a family of commercial fishermen, we never had much, but I didn’t know it. I was taught from a young age that hard work is what pays your way. In 2004 we purchased our home here in Pulaski and in 2012 we moved here fulltime. My wife is a native of Pulaski and her family roots go back several generations.
After graduating high school I went to work as a wildland firefighter for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. I spent the next 30 years running toward the smoke bringing order to chaos. I began my career as a tractor plow operator and through hard work and bold ambitions, I ended my career as a Regional Fire Management Coordinator over the Northeast Region (13 states). I learned leadership and the importance of coordinating and working with partners and agencies to achieve a common goal.
I am running on a platform I call S.O.S.—Service, Order, and Stewardship.
- Service means being a citizen-legislator who puts people over party labels.
- Order means bringing fiscal sensibility and a necessary "dissenting voice" to a body that has gone largely unchallenged for too long.
- Stewardship means protecting our land, our water, and the tax dollars that belong to "We the People."
Theodore Roosevelt once spoke of the ‘Man in the Arena’, the one whose face is marred by dust and sweat, who strives valiantly, and who even if he fails—at least fails while daring greatly.
I’m stepping into the arena because I believe District 3 deserves a choice. We don’t need more career politicians. We need a neighbor who understands the needs and value of our citizens, who understands how to handle large complex budgets, who understands the value of our wildlife, our land and our water, and who isn't afraid to stand alone if it means standing up for “We the People”.
