Dee was born in Oswego, the son of the late Donald and Anna (Mulcahey) West, Sr. He was a life resident of the area.

He was a veteran of the US Navy.

Prior to his 1993 retirement, he was employed as an electrician with the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp, and was a member of the IBEW.

Dee was a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge, and was a former communicant of St. John’s Church in Oswego.

Dee was a SUNY-Oswego hockey fan, and also a fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers. He enjoyed following the New York Yankees during baseball season, and the New York Giants during football season. Dee and his family spent many summers at his camp on Lake Ontario. He loved to go fishing and be out on his boat. One last thing to note is that Dee never met a dog he did not like – nor a dog that did not like him. Not only did he babysit his grandchildren, but he was also the family’s dog sitter. He was a lover of people, animals, and life.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Lee) West of Oswego; a daughter, Kathleen “K.C.” (Mark) Maniccia of Oswego; four sons, Donald F. West of Oswego, Thomas (Patti Hilton) West of Oswego, Jeffrey West of Long Island, and Paul (Cathi Dunsmore) West of Oswego; three sisters, his twin sister Dorothy Barry of Penn Yan; Kathy (Kyle) Robinson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Bernie (Larry) Sadowski of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Matthew, Trey, Emmalee, Elyse, and Anthony; three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Lilyanne, and Kellan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stephanie West; and a sister, Jean Pasco.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, at St. Stephen’s Church in Oswego.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 4:00 to 7:00, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
