Visitors included the VFW Auxiliary State President, Darlene Stanton, Mexico VFW Auxiliary President Mary Gracey and her husband Matt Gracey, a Mexico VFW member. They arrived Friday to present gifts to acknowledge Carol Sue Akers, as a Gold Star Mother. She lost her son, Kyle Rookey on September 2, 2012. He was a Specialist in the US Army and was deployed in Afghanistan.

Gold Star & Blue Star Mothers were nationally established during WWII. A flag with a blue star for each child you had deployed was flown in the mothers’ windows. Unfortunately, if they lose a child in any war, a gold star flag was presented & flown.
