I appreciate your having posted this. The two young ladies were correct: Memorial Day was and is supposed to be about remembering and honoring fallen service members. It is not, and was NEVER intended to be, a day to remember dead relatives, have a barbeque, spend time with family, or go to a "big sale" at a store. As time goes on Memorial Day as a holiday and an event has lost its meaning.
