She was raised in Oswego and attended Frederick Leighton Elementary School until the family moved to Colorado in 1978. Katie was a graduate of Arvada High School in Arvada, Colorado and attended the University of Northern Colorado. Katie was a broker associate with Discover Real Estate Colorado and a community liaison at Westgate Community School.

Her father George Potter passed away on November 28, 2015.

Katie is survived by her mother, Margaret Potter, of Oswego; her son, Jack Detmer of Thornton, Colorado; her brothers, Charles (Lisa) and Mark (Patricia) of Oswego; and Stewart (Janice) of Colorado; her nephews, Brian (Christine), Kyle (Audrey) and Alan Potter, Shay Fluetsch; and her niece, Kami Fluetsch.

There are no calling hours.

A Celebration of life for Katie and her father George will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 5th at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be held in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
