The biggest weekend of short track pavement racing in New York state is on the door step with Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic Weekend set to take the green on Friday, August 31 and Jason Simmons Racing is busy preparing for every night of action.

JSR drivers Tyler Thompson and Joe Trenca will lead the charge as the team’s Supermodified duo, with Thompson opening the weekend on August 31 as a part of International Classic pole night.

Thompson will be among more than 30 other drivers aiming to lock into the top eighteen spots of the Budweiser International Classic 200 lineup for Novelis Supermodifieds, which will take place on Sunday, September 2. A full day of warmups will precede pole night time trials, beginning at 1 p.m. with Supermodified qualifying set for 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Thompson will return to the track to take part in his third career ISMA Supermodified event, as the winged warriors hit Oswego for the first time this season in the annual Bud Light ISMA Supernationals.

Qualifying will take place on September 1 at 3:30 p.m. with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour joining the ISMA Supers on the racing card.

Come Sunday, September 2, both Thompson and Trenca will be behind the wheel, as Trenca will take over the controls of the JSR ISMA Super, and attempt to put it into the Classic field on Sunday as No. 99.

Racing action on Sunday, September 2 is set to get underway at approximately Noon.

While JSR is readying two Supermodifieds for Classic, they are also putting together two dirt karts in conjunction with Mike Babcock Racing for the annual Oswego Kartway Classic on Thursday, August 30 for drivers Thompson and Dan Kapuscinski.

The Kartway Classic will take place directly behind Oswego Speedway’s rear grandstand, with qualifying getting underway at 6:30 p.m.

With Oswego Speedway off on August 25, Thompson will return to kart racing on Friday night at Oswego Kartway for the Justin Lamb Memorial Track Championship night before returning to Fulton Speedway on Saturday for more DIRTcar Sportsman competition.
