John Norvel Hill Jr, 71, of Oswego, NY passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2025.

He was born on October 4, 1953 to Marion (Cloonan) Hill and John Norvel Hill Sr. He spent his childhood surrounded by his family and friends, creating life-long memories before joining the Army in 1974.

After being stationed in Germany for two years, he then served in the reserves until 1980, at which time he was honorably discharged. He started his forty-seven-year career at Burke’s Home Center in 1978, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Hill. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage and welcomed 2 children into the world, Marian and Johnny.

He enjoyed time with his family, riding his e-bike, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He had a passion for making wooden picture frames, one of which hangs in city hall. He always enjoyed adventures, including many road trips with Margie, David, and Brenda.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Ruggio) Hill, his daughter Marian Hill, his son Johnny (Tiffany) Hill, and his granddaughter Celeste Hill. He is also survived by his brothers, Kevin “Bo” (Carleen) Hill and David (Brenda) Hill, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece.

John was predeceased by his parents, his sister Karen and her husband Bruce Milligan, and his brother William Hill.

He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Services will be held at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Calling hours are Thursday, May 8th from 4-7pm.

A funeral service will be held on Friday May 9th at 10 am, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street.
