Joseph W. Skilinskis, 52, a resident of Scriba, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Syracuse.
Joe was born in Oswego, the son of the late Joseph and Constance (Mason) Skilinskis. He was a life resident of the area.
He has been employed as a mechanic with Charlie’s Auto Service in Palermo, and had also worked at Jake’s Automotive in Oswego.
He had formerly raced street stock cars at Oswego Speedway where he drove the #4 car and was known as “Smokin’ Joe”.
Joe loved to travel and to ride motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Carey) Skilinskis of Scriba; two sons, Adam Skilinskis of Palermo, and Alex Skilinskis of Oswego; a sister, Debra (Don) Waldby of North Carolina; three step-daughters, Jessica (Tony) Vazquez of Mexico, Alexandria Stowell of Oswego, and Emily Pierce of Oswego; one step-son, Donald Rowe Jr. of Mexico; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Laurie Seaton.
Arrangements are in the care of Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
