     Judy DenceJudy L. Dence, 67, a resident of the Kocher Road in the town of Scriba, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, following a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

     Judy was born in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Harrell and Thelma (Laird) Johnson. She had lived in the Oswego area for most of her life.
     Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook with the Oswego City School District.
     Judy was a member of the United Baptist Church of Scriba and the church's Women's Guild.
     She is survived by her husband, George Dence Sr. of Scriba; two daughters, Kimberly (John) Roy of Bradford, Mass., and Melanie (Steve) Broughton, of Matthews, N.C.; a stepson, George Dence Jr., of Liverpool; three grandchildren, Jacob Broughton, Devyn Roy and Angela Dence Stump; two great-grandchildren, Callie and Dakota; two sisters, Patricia (Carl) Malone and Pamela (Edgar) Beshures; and many nieces and nephews.
     Private memorial services will be held in the spring.
     There will be no calling hours.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org, or mailed to 230 East Ohio St, Suite 104, Chicago, Illinois, 60611; or to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org, or mailed to PO Box 126, Fayetteville, NY 13066.
     The family wishes to express their gratitude to Gentiva for the wonderful care given by its nurses and staff.
     Arrangements are in care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
