The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center, located at 748 State Route 183 near Williamstown, presents many programs throughout the year where youth and adults can learn about and observe nature first hand. This July offers three programs featuring the pond-life, birds, and flowers of summer.

On Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m., kids of all ages are invited to a "get right in the water and get wet" adventure during Puddle Ducking at the beaver pond with naturalist Pat Carney. Enjoy a summer morning, hunting like herons while discovering an amazing variety of pond wildlife. Water boots or old sneakers are recommended; no flip-flops.

A few days later on Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 p.m, everyone is invited to come enjoy an evening bird walk along the Center's woodland trails during Bird Days of Summer. Guest presenter, Faith Baker of the Onondaga Audubon Society will join the facility's educator in leading this evening program. Every person will get a chance to observe and listen to our avian friends and their growing families. Attendees are encouraged to bring a pair of binoculars to use. Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center does have a few to borrow.

Lastly, on Sunday, July 19th at 2:00 p.m there is an afternoon wildflower program. Naturalist Pat Carney will lead an afternoon stroll along the Center's open spaces and trails to meet the "little people" of the forest floor and fields, such as Lady's Thumb, Evening Primrose, Fleabane, and others, whose common names and stories can be as colorful as their blossoms. A slide presentation will be offered in the event of inclement weather.

These programs are designed for people of all ages. There is a $4.00 fee per person or $12.00 per family. Registration fees will be collected on the day of the program.
