Celebrating its second anniversary, Lakeside Artisans is holding an Anniversary Open House at its downtown Oswego location in Canal Commons, 191 W. First St., from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 15.
This "meet and greet the artists" is free and open to the public, with refreshments, an unveiling of recent artwork by its members and special anniversary raffle drawings.
Lakeside Artisans was awarded First Place in the Operation Oswego County's "Next Great Idea" Business Plan Competition for 2010.
"We are very pleased with the reception our shop has received in the community," Tim Ames, president and business manager of Lakeside Artisans, said. "Folks in this area are looking for the kind of unusual, locally handcrafted, creative items we carry."
In addition to the Open House, Lakeside Artisans will offer art classes in Watercolor and Hand Painted Silk Scarves for adults and host the following events for the month of March:
March 9 - Watercolor and Collage demo by Michele Southgate;
March 16 - Featured Artist Reception for Kathy Fenlon's fabric bags, Easter Baskets and purses;
March 23 - Hand Painted Silk Scarves demo by Cindy Schmidt; and
March 30 - How to choose a matt and frame for artwork demo by Mary Lou Bjorkman of Picture Connection.
