Join the Schroeppel Historical Society for a presentation of ‘Pioneers: The Story of Oswego County’s Search and Rescue Team’ on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. The event takes place at the Schroeppel Historical Museum, 486 Main St., Phoenix.

Local author Jim Farfaglia presents the program, which focuses on the pioneering accomplishments of the Oswego County Search and Rescue Team.

During the summer of 1971, nearly 1,000 people came together to search for a missing boy in the Adirondacks. Inspired by these efforts, an Oswego County man pledged to offer hope for families of missing people. He joined with other likeminded people to form the Oswego County Search and Rescue Team, which was New York State’s first professional volunteer search and rescue team.

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Schroeppel Historical Society. Donations are greatly appreciated.
