Leave a Legacy for Oswego County will be hosting a workshop “Plan for Your Planned Gift” for local not-for-profits on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 8:30 am in the J. P. Cullinan Conference Room at the Oswego Hospital on 110 W. 6th Street. The seminar is free for one representative from the Legacy member agencies and $10 for additional or non-members representatives. Registration and a continental breakfast will be provided at 8 am. (Parking is available in the lot across the street. Enter the building at the south entrance to the lower level.)
Speakers are Mark Slayton, Director of Finance for both, the Oswego College Foundation and the Oswego Alumni Association and Karen Ferguson, Director of the Oswego Health Foundation. Both presenters bring years of experience working with donors in a not-for-profit setting. The topic will give attendees an opportunity to learn about gift acceptance, endowment structures and tools for planned giving relationships.
Leave a Legacy for Oswego County (LAL) is a community-based program designed to help educate the community about the positive impact of charitable giving through a will or estate planning. “We are excited about offering this opportunity for area non-profits” said Mercedes Niess, chair of the Membership Committee. “This workshop will better prepare agencies to communicate their mission and needs to potential donors.”
In addition to brochures, a website and an annual publicity campaign, the organization offers information to professionals about area not-for-profits. Legacy membership dues provide education and information to their members about planned giving.
