The Leighton Elementary School recently held their annual Read-A-Thon, with participating students setting a goal of at least 240 minutes of reading over a 10-day period.
Students tracked their reading from in and out of school, and the students that read for the most minutes in pre-K through 2nd grade, and 3rd to 6th grade were named the school's "Principals of the Day." There were 57 participants, who combined to read a total of 23,649 minutes.
Shown pictured with the actual Leighton School Elementary Principal Larry Schmiegel, are the Read-A-Thon winners and "Principals of the Day", 5th grade student Mary Kate Cloonan, and 2nd grader Kevin Waters. Cloonan read 2,190 minutes and Waters 457 during the 10 days.
