One of CNY's most active and popular Christian bands, The Sent Forth, have been in rehearsals for this years production of “Tenebrae”. The annual concept concert started 6 years ago, when Michael Bolio, Lead Vocalist and Bass Guitar player for the band, attended local Maundy Thursday services.
“Growing up in the Church,” said Bolio, “I had attended many a Tenebrae service over the years and found them to all be very similar. All the same songs, all the same scriptures. I kept thinking there had to be a more contemporary way to tell the story.”
Inspired by the popularity of “Jesus Christ: Superstar” and “The Passion of the Christ", Michael set out to compose and script a new retelling of the Passion story. The concert will contain 4 new songs and additional narration.
“We are so pleased that our cast is returning this year. Each and every one of them is a blessing to this effort!” said Mr. Bolio when asked about the cast. Returning this year will be Brian Pringle, narrator and “The Voice of Tenebrae” as well as Female soloists/Back up vocalists Molly Marie Brown and Marguerite Beebe.
The concert will be on Good Friday April 14 at 7 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Fulton, 1408 State Route 176, across from the jr. high school. Everyone is invited and there is no charge to attend. A non-perishable food donation is requested for the church food pantry.
