Write a commentNew author, Connie Evans, has joined with Tails and Tales, independent publishing company, to publish "Charlotte's Big Dream," the true story of her rescue dog.
Evans teamed up with local illustrator Jim Arnold to portray Charlotte's story from the time she was outdoors, homeless, cold and hungry searching for her new family to her adoption by a new mom.
By telling Charlotte's story, Evans hopes to help others understand that shelter dogs are not broken. "They are wise, wonderful friends and you should be honored to have one by your side," she statef. "I want people to know that Charlotte's story is not unique; it is every shelter dog's story – the story of the redemptive power of love."
Evans has owned Dayle's Dog Grooming since 1994 and works tirelessly to support Paws Across Oswego County (PAOC) in their efforts to help homeless animals. Charlotte was one of the lucky ones and now she is paying it forward. Proceeds from the sales of her book are being donated to PAOC.
Charlotte will join Evans and Arnold at a booksigning event from 2-4 p.m., Oct. 20, at Sunset RV Park, 61 county Route 89, in Oswego, across from Rudy's and Bev's.

About Tails and Tales
Magaret Streitenberger, founder of Tails and Tales, worked as a teacher and an accountant. As an adult, she shared her home with various animals whom she said she found to be wise, witty, companionable, intrusive, creative and entertaining. She loved reading stories that included animals, especially if the cat or dog helped to solve a mystery.
Retiring from the corporate world, Streitenberger started a pet sitting business and joined NAPPS (National Association for Professional Pet Sitters) to learn more about the care of pets and meet other professionals in the business. She became a "Tumbleweed" around 2005 and now lives full time with six cats and two dogs in their motor home.
Streitenberger began her dream of book publishing by becoming an independent publisher in 2010 . She currently has authored and published four books available locally and was a contributing author in Driftwords: Poems, Stories and Essays from The Denim Poets Society, a literary anthology by writers of Oswego, NY, 2012.
