Marissa Hanlon, resident of 129 Cayuga Street, Fulton, recently announced her candidacy for Mayor of the City of Fulton.
Hanlon made the following comments regarding her candidacy:
"Growing up in Granby, and graduating from Hannibal in 1999, I remember countless soccer games with Fulton Youth Soccer and the smell of chocolate in the air before a big rain. My upbringing in the community was instrumental in my formative foundation. Knowing my neighbors, being part of a team and respecting others ideas and opinions was how I was raised and saw others in the community act. These attributes are what pulled me to reside in Fulton for the past 14 years. During that time, I have grown in my passion for the city and her tremendous potential. I’ve served on the Zoning Board of Appeals the past two years and helped to start the Special Events Committee that has brought award winning events, such as, “Big Truck Day,” “Community Market,” “Fall Festival” and the “Christmas Tree Lighting” to Fulton since 2021. I’m very proud of the fine work that the Special Events Committee has done and continues to do to bring tourism, entertainment and much needed morale building to our city!”
Hanlon has advanced Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Physical Therapy with a Geriatric Board Certification. Practicing primarily in Oswego County over the past 19 years, she states, “My passion for the City of Fulton has grown exponentially through my everyday conversations with patients and through my volunteer efforts. Hearing about the city’s rich history and conversing about residents’ ideas and hopes for the city’s well-being, have inspired me to lead the efforts to bring positive change to our city.”
Hanlon is supported by her husband, James, and her two children, Sophia and Liam. Both children attend Fulton City School District. Hanlon currently practices at Performance Physical Therapy in downtown Fulton. She is seeking the endorsement of the City of Fulton Republican Committee.
“I am excited for the changes coming to Fulton. The energy and excitement for Fulton’s potential is palpable and I want to build on the foundation that has been established, so now is the time to push forward and work together to create a vibrant, robust Fulton that families can call home for many generations to come. As residents of this City, we must come together and ignite the change we want to see. I am ready to hit the ground running to lead our community and partner with our Common Council, businesses, educational institutions and community leaders, in addition to our great residents.”
