The Mexico Food Pantry received a $7,500 grant from the Odd Fellow & Rebekah Benefit Fund earlier this week.

The pantry, which is located next to CiTi Lanes, is planning to collaborate with CiTi on a walk-in freezer attached to a kitchenette. This will provide CiTi students with an ideal place for training in restaurant-specific skills while also expanding the capacity of the food pantry.

Martha Sturtz, Coordinator at the Mexico Food Pantry, said, "We've had more than one freezer die on us recently. Many of our existing units are designed for home use, not commercial. This grant will help improve our capacity and make it easier for us to handle deliveries."

Elsewhere in Oswego County, the fund has also made grants to Erin's Angels of Phoenix and Farnham Family Services of Mexico.

The Odd Fellow & Rebekah Benefit Fund's mission is to promote a better quality of life for those who require support during times of hardship by providing funding opportunities available for programs, education, and research to improve the overall wellbeing of those who are in need.
