The Family Resource Center cut the ribbon on their brand-new office on Fulton’s East Side last week.
The center, located at 616 Oneida Street, officially opens this coming Monday, July 29th. Parents in the community can expect to receive free and confidential services revolving around pregnancy and parenthood.
According to Theresa Wilkinson, Executive Director of the FRC, the focus in the Fulton office will be primarily parenting classes, offering resources to parents, and working with the family court system to keep families together. There will also be vouchers provided to parents who complete courses with the center that can be used at the organization’s boutique—which features clothing, diapers, and other necessities for infants.
The faith-based non-profit also has a location in Oswego on Liberty Street. “We support about 60 families at that center,” Wilkinson told iHeart Oswego. “Our volunteers tend to be older, grandmotherly types who are incredibly supportive—it’s the type of mentoring and supportive relationship many of our clients lack in their personal life.” In addition to parenting classes and resources, the Oswego location also offers cooking classes and peer support groups.
Oswego’s office is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 4pm; the new office in Fulton will have hours from 11am to 4pm on Mondays and 11am to 3:30pm on Tuesdays. “We plan on expanding those hours, but we need more volunteers to accomplish that,” Wilkinson said.
Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to learn more about the process by calling 315-343-4866, extension 100, or by emailing [email protected].
The FRC aims to empower, educate, and equip the community by providing free and confidential services regarding pregnancy and pregnancy decisions, offering practical support that promotes life-affirming choices and flourishing families. Note that the organization does not perform or refer for abortions.
