Novelis is the worldwide leader of rolled aluminum products and delivers unique solutions for the most demanding applications such as automobiles, architecture, cans, and electronics.
As part of this long standing partnership, ‘Novelis Supermodified’ teams will be required to place the Novelis logo on their rear wing.
Novelis will also present the ‘Mr. Supermodified’ $10,000 to win event on July 21 and bring the Novelis Fan Can Chase back to the speedway in 2019.
The Novelis Fan Can Chase returns with three dates, beginning with this weekend’s Season Opener on Saturday, May 25. Other can collection events include ‘Grand Prix’ Night on July 6 plus the Mr. Novelis Supermodified show on July 21.
“The Oswego Speedway partnership has been instrumental in helping Novelis promote the importance of recycling aluminum and we appreciate the great participation in Fan Can Chase events,” said Novelis Finance Lead, Tom Salvador. “We’ve been able to do wonderful things with the funds raised through these can collections and look forward to another great season.”
In fourteen years, over $92,000 has been raised through the Fan Can Chase. That money has since been donated to a variety of organizations including Oswego Renaissance, P-TECH, Child Advocacy Center, Oswego County Opportunities, ARISE, Blessings in a Backpack, and more.
Last season, a total of 115,000 plus cans were collected between the three Fan Can Chase dates, pushing the all-time count to over one and a half million.
The winner of this year’s Fan Can Chase will again have the opportunity to pick from three prizes. He or she can choose either two 2020 Oswego Speedway regular season reserved tickets, two 2020 regular season pit passes, or two 2020 regular season SkyDeck passes.
Following the winner’s selection, those who finished positions two and three in the Fan Can Chase will have the opportunity to pick from the remaining prizes.
All fans representing households four through twelve will receive a pair of 2019 GA passes to the 63rd edition of Budweiser International Classic Weekend held August 31 and September 1.
Additionally, all households that donate 1,000 or more cans will earn guaranteed general admission passes for two to Budweiser International Classic Weekend as well.
Winning exactly fifty percent of the contests, Jim Larkin has repeated as Novelis Fan Can Chase champion in each of the past seven seasons.
The Novelis Oswego plant, located off County Route 1A, has allowed the company to become the regional leader in aluminum products across Oswego County and beyond.
Operating alongside its customers to provide innovative solutions to beverage, automotive and high-end specialty markets, Novelis operates an integrated network of technically advanced rolling and recycling facilities across North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

About Oswego Speedway: Oswego Speedway is a 5/8 mile semi-banked pavement racing oval located off the shores of Lake Ontario in scenic Oswego, NY. The speedway has been a continuously run weekly racing venue since August 1951. The premier open-wheel pavement short track cars in the world, Supermodifieds, run weekly at the Oswego Speedway making it the only weekly Supermodified racing venue in the world. The Small Block Supermodifieds and 350 Supermodifieds accompany the full blown Supers on a weekly Saturday night schedule which runs from May through September. Oswego Speedway is mentioned in racing circles as the “Indy of the East,” as no fewer than a dozen past and present competitors have competed at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway including Mario Andretti, two-time Indy 500 champion Gordon Johncock, and former International Classic Champions Bentley Warren, Joe Gosek, and Davey Hamilton.
