Jimmie James BBQ will be providing the next Salvation Army Guest Chef dinner on Tuesday, November 3, 4:30 to 6:30. They will be serving ¼ barbequed chicken, coleslaw, salt potatoes, and corn bread. Members of the Advisory Board will provide desserts and beverages. The dinner will be at the Salvation Army Worship and Service Center, 73 West Second Street, in Oswego.
The Guest Chef dinners are organized by the Advisory Board and offered to the community to raise funds for support of the services of the Army throughout Oswego County. There is ample parking and the building is fully accessible.
Jimmie James BBQ is owned and operated by Robin and Jim Guyle, assisted by their son, Jeremy, and their son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Alice. They specialize in barbequed chicken, baby back ribs, brisket, and pulled pork but also offer pizza, wings, and subs. They have been in business for eight years and have their main restaurant at 5048 Route 104 in Scriba. They recently opened a take-out shop at the forks in the road, 1 Washington Boulevard, Oswego.
The first Guest Chef Dinner in 2016 will be provided by Rudy’s Lakeside Restaurant in early March.
The Oswego County Salvation Army Corps provides fresh-cooked meals five days each week in both Fulton and Oswego, groceries from its food pantries, and many other services to individuals and families in need throughout Oswego County. It also handles monthly Food $en$e groceries from the Food Bank of Central New York for anyone wishing to reduce their food costs.
Planning is underway for this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. The need is to raise over $100,000. There will be opportunities for individuals and families, as well as organizations, businesses, and groups of all kinds to lend a hand. The kettles will be out from mid-November through Christmas Eve. Small counter-top kettles are available for business locations.
