Oswego County Legislature Chairman Fred C. Beardsley recently presented a plaque to Arthur Ospelt, Jr. and Kurt Ospelt, superintendent of the Oswego County Highway Department.

The presentation is in recognition of their father's visionary leadership and advocacy on behalf of the residents of Oswego County. Arthur Ospelt, Sr. served the public for more than 40 years. He was the Schroeppel Town Supervisor from 1970 to 1990 and a member of the Oswego County Board of Supervisors from 1970 to 1977. He went on to become Oswego County Highway Superintendent from 1977 to 1990 and Oswego County Administrator from 1990 to 1996. From 2000 to 2012, he represented District 12 in the Oswego County Legislature, serving as chairman and vice-chairman at various terms. Legislator Ospelt was known for his unwavering commitment to the common good of all of Oswego County.
