For the third time in six weeks, heavy rains and damp weather has forced Oswego Kartway to cancel their Friday night racing events.

With record rain fall in the Central New York area Thursday and the threat of more showers Friday, Oswego Kartway canceled its evening activities around 11:30 a.m. Standing water on and around the Kartway made track preparation nearly impossible without another drop of moisture.

"Although yesterday's rains were never too severe, we simply took on a lot of water in the last 24 hours," said Oswego Kartway representative, Dan Kapuscinski. "Our front straightaway is nearly half under water at this point and our run off areas are also very heavily saturated. As of this afternoon we had no chance of getting a pack truck on the track to even begin to try and get a surface to race on that is up to our standards."

The Kartway will return to action next Friday, June 14, with one of the biggest events of the year at the Bull Ring, the King of the Kartway. With trophies on the line for the top three finishers in all 11 divisions, the King of the Kartway is a cannot miss event for competitors and fans.

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., Friday, June 14, with hot laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.
