The Kartway was opened in 2005 and has operated every weekend in the summer for the past thirteen years with race director Jim Losurdo organizing most of that action from the very beginning.
“We are looking forward to seeing everyone for our season kickoff event this Friday, May 4,” Losurdo said. “We have another exciting schedule of events planned for 2018 and the track is in great shape for our opener.”
Another busy schedule is planned this year for the Kartway, as after teams use this weekend’s event for a tune up, the aggressive points season will get underway beginning Friday, May 11, May 18 and May 25.
The points race will ramp up on June 1, June 8 and June 15 with three regular events before the track goes quiet June 22 in observance of high school graduation. Racing will get the green again on June 29 to finish off the month of June.
All three of the Kartway’s ‘Triple Crown’ events will return in 2018 beginning with the CH Sealants ‘King of the Kartway’ Summer Shootout on July 6. The second event in the triple crown, the Weaver’s Custom Coating’s ‘Battle at the Bullring’ will be held on August 3 before the 12th Annual ‘Dirt Track Classic’ gets the green flag as part of Oswego Speedway’s Bud Classic Weekend on Thursday, August 30.
July 13, July 20, August 10, and August 17 will all be regular events in the Kartway’s 2018 points race while the 17th will serve as the return of the Justin Lamb Memorial Track Championship. The rain date for Championship Night has been set for Friday, August 24.
Two additional non-point races will be contested on September 9 and September 16 before the always exciting ‘Fall Frenzy’ 150 Championships get underway to conclude the season on Saturday, September 22.
The Oswego Kartway offers a wide variety of divisions for all ages at a minimum of just 5 years old and continuing to ages 15 and up. Nearly 20 total divisions are part of the Kartway’s class structure for 2018 and a full list can be found at OswegoKartway.com.
For all Kartway events, spectators are invited to watch the action for ONLY $5 a carload. Pit passes are just $10, while entry fees for competitors are set at $20 for members and $23 for non-members.
The race schedule for this Friday, May 4, and all regular shows in 2018, will see gates open at 4:30pm, the drivers meeting held at 6:30pm, hot laps at 6:45pm and heat racing at 7:30pm.
