During the trip, students participated in activities led by the National Parks Service, spent time at the visitor center, and toured the various sites of the battlefield led by a licensed guide. On the battlefield, students were trained to march, charge, and align on the colors.

They then re-enacted the famous charge of the 6th Wisconsin "Iron Brigade" on the very ground where the battle took place in July of 1863.

Led by their ranger, students toured the site where the 147th Regiment from Oswego fought and suffered heavy casualties on the first day of the battle. Students also visited the Eternal Piece Light Memorial, Little Round Top, and the Union lines during Pickett's Charge.

The trip was a great learning experience for all, and the Hands on History Club is eagerly awaiting their next adventure.
