Oswego Opera Theater to Present Dido and Aeneas

Oswego Opera Theater will present Henry Purcell’s English Baroque masterpiece Dido and Aeneas on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 at 7:30 PM in the Great Hall of the Church of the Resurrection, 120 West Fifth Street, in Oswego, New York.

Featured performers will be soprano Amanda Joseph in the role of Dido, and tenor Todd Graber as Aeneas. Other singers, many of whom are well known to Oswego audiences, include Elisabeth Kisselstein, Julia Ebner, Robert Dumas, Angela Russell, Claire Beshures, Daniel Williams, and Leah Mullen.

The production will also feature the StateSingers, the select choral ensemble from SUNY Oswego, directed by Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi, as well as dancers choreographed by Dr. Ligia Pinheiro, a Baroque specialist. All will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra with keyboard continuo player Kevan Spencer. Artistic Director Juan Francisco La Manna will conduct.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the river’s end bookstore and at Wayne Drugs, or at the door. General admission is $10 and student admission is $5.
