The un-official start to the 2014 Oswego Speedway racing season is set for March 8-9 with the annual Gater Racing News Motorsports Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY.

Oswego Speedway will once again feature a multi-car display at the Expo, along with two Supermodified simulators for fans to take a set of laps at the famed 'Steel Palace.'

"Spring must be right around the corner because it is once again time for the Gater Show at the New York State Fairgrounds," said Oswego Speedway Public Relations Specialist, Dan Kapuscinski. "The Patrick family does such an outstanding job with this show each year, and we are proud to again take part in kicking-off our 2014 season at the 'Steel Palace.'"

A total of four Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supers are expected to be at this year's Expo, including all three entries from the Team Tapout racing stables.

The Jason Simmons No. 98, JJ Andrews No. 93, and Barry Kingsley No. 91 Hedger Fabrication Chassis Small Block Supers have gone through the off-season paces and will be in show form for the upcoming Expo.

Simmons, who earned his first career Oswego Speedway main event win in 2013, took third in the overall driver's championship last season behind the wheel of the No. 98. With another year of experience behind him, the driver/owner looks to battle Mike Bond and the rest for a series title in 2014.

Andrews returns as Simmons' teammate in 2014 after winning the Small Block Super portion of King of Wings V last July. Last year was arguably the best season yet for the longtime SBS veteran as Andrews claimed fourth position in the driver's title while also setting fast time for the Bud Light SBS Classic 75 on Labor Day Weekend.

Kingsley will join Team Tapout this year as the third full-time entry for the team, driving No. 91. A former Mr. Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super champion, Kingsley has been hard at work all winter on his ride for the season, and is ready to show it off at the Gater Racing News Motorsports Expo.

The fourth Small Block Super in attendance will once again be the Won4Racing No. 04 Hedger Fabrication Chassis, driven by 2012 Speedway track champion Kreig Heroth. Heroth took fifth in the driver's championship last year, falling a mere 79-points shy of defending his crown. The well prepared and maintained No. 04 machine will join Simmons, Andrews, and Kingsley in representing Oswego Speedway one more time at the Gater Expo.

Back by popular demand at this year's Expo will be the Oswego Speedway Supermodified simulators provided by John Byrnes, Bob Garafolo, and LaGraf's Pub in Oswego. Located on E. 10th street, LaGraf's Pub holds a weekly simulation series on Monday nights through the Speedway's off-season.

Fans can also try the simulation online at www.suprs.net. The race software can be downloaded for a donation of $25, which goes to the Dion Parish Memorial injured driver's fund.

Rides at this year's Expo will once again be $5 a piece with 13-laps of racing being given at Oswego Speedway behind the wheel of an ISMA winged Supermodified. Money raised will once again go toward the Kids on Track giveaway fund in 2014.

The top five fastest times on the simulators will be tracked throughout the weekend, with Speedway race tickets being awarded to those who set the top three fastest times.

Last year's fastest lap was set by 2012 Mr. Pathfinder Bank SBS, AJ Bernys, with a lap of 16.005 seconds. Domenic Gioia, a regular with the SUPRS.net online Supermodified series, clocked in second fastest with a lap of 16.038 seconds. Brandon Chretien, Kyle Young, and John Trenca completed the front five runners.

Bernys' lap of 16.005 seconds will be declared as the Gater Expo track record for this year's competition.

One of the more popular things to do at the Gater Racing News Expo each season is to collect one of the many racing schedules available for the coming year, and once again Mitchell's Speedway Press has developed Oswego's schedule flyer for 2014. Be sure to stop by the Speedway booth to pick one up as well as browse the many options of Speedway merchandise that will be available.

Thomas Racing Videos will also be on hand with Speedway DVDs ready for purchase.
