The Oswego Music Hall is proud to welcome the Oswego Opera Theater's OSWEGONIAN RHAPSODY, an evening of local acts performing selections from popular rock operas.
"Your favorite local bands, your favorite rock operas, now for the first time ever unite in an explosive evening of high-energy performances," said Nicholas Gentile, one of the Guest Curators presenting the show. "Did you ever want to hear Gary Dunes' rendition of The Who's Tommy? How about The Jimi Marley Trio's reggae rendition of The Wall? How about a surf rock rendition of Rocky Horror? You'll hear the songs you grew up with played in genres you'd never expect."
"Of course, there'll be a good amount of rock music too," said Gentile's co-Curator Gina Mazzoli. "The audience will rush to the dance floor when they hear Johnny Bletch's new venture playing classics by bands like Queen."
The Oswego Opera Theater has produced fully-staged musical productions annually since 1978. They involve hundreds of local musicians, technicians, designers, costumers, and lighting engineers. This will be their first ever "rock opera" fundraiser. Further information is at oswegooperatheater.com.
"This benefit concert for the Oswego Opera Theater is a can't miss, one-night only affair." added Gentile, "You'll never see such a wide variety of different performers in all your life. The evening guarantees to put both the 'show' and the 'tunes' in 'showtunes.'"
The show is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st, 7pm at the Oswego Music Hall, located inside the McCrobie Civic Center at 41 Lake St. Tickets are on sale now at oswegomusichall.org or at The River's End Bookstore in downtown Oswego.
