It seems that the impeccable genius mayor of Ithaca, Svante Myrick, has an equally gifted brother who is a musician, Mykel Myrick. Mykel is one of the two parts of the mind-blowing modern Hip-Hop group, Out Chasing Lions. The other member is Medical Service Corps Officer in the United States Army, Rob Malloy. Together, with tantalizing beats and purposeful lyrics, the two have created true art in sound.

The Girls Night Out Fashion Show will support women of Exodus 3 Ministries located at 305 N. Geddes St. in Syracuse, N.Y. The event is self-supporting and had committee members from Syracuse, Oswego, Ithaca and Fulton.

The Ministry was founded by Deb Person, the Home provides shelter, food, clothing and training for women.  The theme of the events, alike the Ministries programs, is “Women Empowerment and Succeeding No Matter What.”

“I’m a Great Believer in Luck. The Harder I Work, the More Luck I Have,” Out Chasing Lions said regarding this year’s theme, quoting Thomas Jefferson.

Let’s take a moment to talk about empowerment and success, what it means, and how you can obtain both:

RobSo how many of you think the name Out Chasing Lions is totally arbitrary?

"Many of you may not know, but the name Out Chasing Lions packs a punch in the metaphorical realm. Its meaning is rooted around empowerment, success, and going after whatever you want no matter how big of a dream you’re chasing (pun intended). The entire trick to getting what you want is to not stop.  Trust us, we are living proof of what people can accomplish both personally and professionally."

Begin with the End in Mind

Steps to success for you:

1. Think of something you really want to accomplish, no matter how big or small.  Do you have that vision in your head? Good!

2. Work backwards in thinking about what steps are necessary to achieve that goal.

3. Now think of anyone who is or may get in your way….don’t surround yourself with these people.  Bad Energy = No Movement

4. Find a way to become a small fish in a big pond…..wait what?  Surround yourself with people who are better than you in whatever goal you are trying to achieve.

5. Narrow your efforts down to one or two things, and focus on those things.

6. DON’T STOP. EVER.

Does a Plant Grow without Water?

Of course, the answer is no.

The same concept applies to ourselves when we want to achieve something bigger. Regardless of how you personally define success, we can guarantee that if you don’t take the necessary steps to learn what you need to improve your craft and improve the lives around you, in the process you will most likely never grow yourself….tough love….we know.

It’s Not About You!

Yes, being successful is not about you.

Remember, your success is largely attributed to those around you who have changed in a positive way because of you.  Additionally, it’s those who support what you are doing and who believe that what you’re doing is making a difference in not only their life, but others lives as well.

For example, let’s take a vote: How many of you think Out Chasing Lions does what it does in order to become famous?

“We do what we do because we like changing people’s lives for the better through music. We vibe off of positive energy and we want you to as well.”

Make sure to stop out and support Exodus 3 Ministries and the women of Upstate New York, while enjoying yourself at the Girls Night Out Fashion Show.  You won’t want to miss this!
