A sensational series of 792 by Oswego High School Buc bowler Joe Clavelli paced the Bucs in a three-game sweep of Syracuse Thursday, Jan. 24.
Clavelli started the day with a near perfect with the first 11 balls all strikes to finish with a 298 and followed up with 269 and 225 for a 792 series.
The Bucs picked up three points for the day winning 1,066-990, 1,146-982 and 1,116-955 over Syracuse.
"They continue to work well as a team," coach Bob Hoefer said. "Joe Clavelli was very impressive with that 792 series. As the record improved to 27-6."
Clavelli's series overshadowed two other outstanding series as Kevin Goodale finished with a near 700 as his games of 215-243-238 totaled 696. Matt Clemons rolled a 686 (224-217-245).
The only other Buc rolling three games in competition was Zach Delbrocco with a 531 (167-211-153) while Gavin Gilbert had two games in scoring for a 461 (206-255) while Jim Rose had a 162.
In girls' action, the Lady Bucs came up with a point with a very strong first game.
The Bucs won the opener 714-601, but Syracuse came back with a 660-628 and 675-656 games.
Leading the Bucs was seventh grader Kaitlyn Grant with a 470 behind games of 142-157-171. Meghan Flack finished with a 466 (150-171-145) followed by Tori Gardner 425 (174-107-144) and Allie Hare 357 (152-98-107).
Caitlyn McRae rolled two games in competition with a 191 (96-95) and Aubrey Sanderson the other scoring game with an 89.
The Lady Bucs moved to 12-21 on the year.

In a meet highlighted by many personal best efforts, the Oswego girls indoor track team closed out the regular season Thursday, Jan. 24, with a strong performance at the Fred Kirschenheiter Memorial Girl's Invitational.
In the 300-meter dash, sophomore Vanessa Wiltsie ran a fine time of 52.08, to finish first in her section of the race. She also led off the Lady Bucs talented 4 x 200-meter relay of Grace Gilbert, Marsaili Knapp, and Maria Monte, with the relay earning a season best time of 2:09.1, to finish second in their race. All four relay members turned in personal best times in the race.
Oswego also earned a season best in the 4 x 400-meter relay, behind four personal best efforts, with the foursome of Chloe Patterson, Gilbert, Knapp, and Monte, combining for a strong time of 5:10.7, to place fourth in their section. Patterson also ran a best in the 300 meter dash for Oswego.
Junior Mallory Gordon, turned in a best in the 3000-meter run, clocking a fine time of 13:22.6, with sophomore Alexis Hanna turning in a strong effort in the 55-meter dash and long jump.
Thursday, Jan. 31, the rapidly improving Lady Bucs will open their championship season, returning to the SRC Arena track at Onondaga Community College, for the CNYCL American League Track and Field Championships, starting at 4:30 p.m.
