Patricia Mott Barry, 79, of Oswego, died Sunday December 1, 2013, after a short illness.
Born to the late Joseph and Marguerite Smith Mott on November 7, 1934, in Oswego New York, Patricia "Patti" graduated from Oswego High School. She was pre- deceased by her favorite dance partner and loving husband Joseph M. Barry, in 1993.
A communicant of St Mary's Church, Pat was an active volunteer in her church and Oswego Hospital for many years. She was also a volunteer at the Human Concern Center, and was a proud member of the Columbiettes. She loved ceramics, crochet, and sharing her home with friends and family over the years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, she always had a place at the table for anyone, and enjoyed sharing her love of baking, cooking, music, and laughter. Her open door will fondly be remembered by those who had the opportunity to sit at the crowded table and be served. Often an Irish coffee, if the occasion called for it, a good story, and a few loudly sung ballads if the time allowed.
Patricia's love of life and family will continue on in her nine children and their partners, Kathleen (Brian Caufield) of Syracuse, Daniel (Teresa McNeely) of Seattle, WA, Margaret (Louis Boudreau) of Syracuse, Gerald (Carol Black) of High Springs, FL, Theresa (Patrick Nellis) of Syracuse, Kevin of Oswego, William of Providence, RI, Patrick of Oswego, and Joby (Amy Puccio) of Wilmington, DE; She will be missed by the grandchildren she dearly loved, and in whom she took great pride: Gabrielle Barry-Caufield, Conor Barry, and Madeline and Riley Barry. As well, she is survived by her brother, Robert (Hazel) Mott of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sister, Kathleen Mott Dumas of Guerneville CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Leo Mott.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday, in St. Mary's Church, Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
The family is also suggesting donations could be made to St. Luke Health Services, 299 East River Road, Oswego, NY 13126, in gratitude for the loving support they provided for our mother during her stay.
