Write a commentBekkah Frisch, a lifelong resident of Fulton, has announced pre-orders for her debut novel, The Great Quiet, will open April 6th on her website, bekkahfrisch.com.
The novel, which will be published under the imprint Bombus Books, LLC, will hit shelves this August.
“This moment has been a long time in the making,” said Frisch, who graduated from Wells College with a BA in English in 2014. “Becoming a mom has inspired me to take the next step forward in my writing and publishing journey—I want my daughter to see that mothers don’t have to choose between being good parents and pursuing their dreams.”
Frisch’s award-winning writing has previously appeared in Upstate Medical University’s Healing Muse. As a teen, her poetry was frequently published in the national publication, Teen Ink.

In this work of contemporary fiction, the political reality of France’s nuclear testing in the Pacific becomes personal for two Polynesian families. Manu, a pilot-turned-politician, and his teenage daughter Ari have their lives upended after Ari is diagnosed with the rare blood cancer myeloma. Meanwhile, Angela, a single mother whose health and six-bed pension are both failing, keeps her son Natua close and her secrets even closer. After Ari’s illness takes a turn for the worse, she sneaks away to Paris to seek treatment, Natua by her side.
