Ahead of a busy month of April that will see the 2018 Camden Proud Chicken BBQ Fundraiser take place along with preparation for the Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series Opener in May, Proud Motorsports is at work piecing together the Step One Creative No. 54 Small Block Super for another full-time go at Oswego Speedway’s track championship.

“We had hoped to have the car appear with its new look at the Syracuse Motorsports Expo on March 10 and 11, but it doesn’t look like that will be possible,” said Camden Proud. “Our team made a valiant effort and I want to thank Finger Lakes Machine, Step One Creative, Budget Signs, Tim Proud, Chris Proud and Scott Lord for all of the hard work. We came close, but it’s very tough for teams to have their cars completely set to go this time of year.”

Instead of unveiling the new scheme designed by Mark Proud and Step One Creative next weekend, the plan is now to bring the No. 54 to the 2018 Camden Proud Chicken BBQ Fundraiser which will take place on Sunday, April 8 in the City of Oswego. Weather permitting, the car will be on display in the parking area at Lighthouse Lanes adjacent to the speedway.

“Usually we are all busy working on other projects throughout the offseason and this winter has been no exception,” Proud added. “On the other hand, for the first time, we feel confident that if everything falls into place, we’ll be able to unveil the new graphics package at our fundraiser. It’s later in the offseason and the weather has been nice the past several years. If we don’t do the reveal then, we will have to wait until Open Practice at Oswego.”

Before Open Practice takes place in Oswego on May 19, the Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series Opener will be held a week earlier at the Evans Mills Speedway on May 12. Camden will be on the sidelines as he watches his father and team owner Tim Proud get back behind the wheel in search of his first career SBS victory.

“We will be at the Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series Opener for sure, but it won’t be with the new body and graphics package,” Proud noted. “The plan is to just leave the flat black body on for that show, or maybe even all of the out of town races. We’ll save our new body for Oswego. Our team is committed to chasing all of the events on tour in 2018 and I’m looking forward to seeing my Dad battle it out for a win. He came close last year, so it’s an exciting way for us to start the season.”

Other events already penciled in on the Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series schedule include the return of the ‘Fall Brawl 50’ at Evans Mills in September, as well as the first ever Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series event at Spencer Speedway, scheduled for Friday, June 29. Tim has a ninth place finish in his only series start last season.
