Rain Postpones Super DIRT Week Sunday Action to Monday

A weather forecast calling for rain most of the day on Sunday has forced the postponement of all Super DIRT Week racing to Monday, according to Nick Graziano, Senior Public Relations Manager for DIRT.

According to a press release issued on Sunday morning, "Super DIRT Week officials hoped for a change in the weather overnight, but unfortunately rain combined with hail and high winds has continued this morning and is forecasted by Precision Weather Service to continue into tonight, pushing the three remaining Feature events to Monday October 9th."

After a soggy start on Saturday, the track was prepped to allow the DIRTcar Pro Stock feature to be run. Luke Horning of Gloversville, NY took the win - his first Super DIRT Week victory - followed by Shane Playford and Devon Camenga. The field was being lined up for the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 for big block modifiers when the skies opened up again, forcing postponement of the headline race.

Graziano said, "This marks the first time since 2005 that weather has prevented Super DIRT Week events from being completed as scheduled by Sunday."

As soon as the track can be made ready on Monday, the three remaining events will be run. First up will be the Salute To The Troops 150 for 358 Modifieds, followed by the Chevrolet Performance 50 for DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds, and the Billy Whittaker Cars 200.  All Saturday and Sunday tickets will be honored on a Monday, with gates opening at 10:00 a.m. and racing scheduled to begin at 11:00.
