The Salmon River Fine Arts Center has recently announced they will be holding their major auction and fundraising event online this year on October 3.

Typically, each fall the center hosts their annual “standing room only” silent auction and wine and cheese fundraising event at the center. Since large gatherings and parties aren’t possible right now, the center is using the online fundraising tools at betterworld.org, an organization designed to support and fund non-profits and ensure that 100% of the auction money goes directly to the Salmon River Fine Arts Center.

The center invites the public to preview and bid early starting at 1 pm on September 26th at https://srfac.betterworld.org . Then on the following Saturday evening, October 3rd grab a glass of wine and your computer and watch the virtual party unfold on Facebook Live from 6 pm to 8 pm. Designated board members will emcee the event from the center with live performances throughout the evening featuring music by Ritter and Ruddy.

If you like what you hear, you can bid on a backyard concert with these local musicians! Performance artist Aaron Mekkelson will be painting one of his unique paintings themed on the area that will also be offered for bid that night. In addition, you can log in early that day at 1 pm to watch a firing of Raku items by local artists that will be auctioned later. Other auction items include original paintings, prints, pottery by local artists, gift baskets, local gift certificates and much more.

The center is still accepting donations for the auction from businesses and individuals who want to support art in the community. To donate, please call, email or drop off items during gallery hours or by appointment. Our goal is to have items in a variety of price ranges that will appeal to everyone.

“This event is designed to allow you to connect with your friends and community, do some friendly bidding, listen to music, watch art come to life and maybe send out some friendly comments during the bidding process, all in the comfort (and safety) of your own home. But most importantly you will be supporting a good cause,” says Ann Buchau, board president. “We are counting on the community to come together for this online experience. The auction is our biggest fundraiser, and we depend on that money to help get us through the winter months,”

The center wishes to express sincere gratitude to Monique Ritter, Andrew Ruddy, and Aaron Meekkelson for donating their time, talents and items to the cause and to all the supporting artists and patrons.
