This rotating series highlights distinct artists and groups chosen by the center's gallery committee based on three criteria: charitable causes, work from dedicated member volunteers, or student showcases.
The inaugural exhibition opens on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and runs through October 10, 2026. It will be displayed in a dedicated space within the member gallery, adjacent to the main gallery. Renowned watercolorist Craig Anderson of Syracuse, New York, will launch the series with an exhibit dedicated to benefiting ALS research.
"I am honored and grateful to have my work included in the gallery," says Anderson. "As a person and artist recently diagnosed with ALS, I am desperate for a cure, like so many others, and appreciate the opportunity for the sale proceeds of this show to fund ALS research."
Visitors are invited to meet and speak with the artist at the gallery on opening day, Thursday, September 3, at 4:30 PM.
About the Featured Artist
Craig Anderson has been a member of the Salmon River Fine Arts Center for several years and has taught watercolor classes locally and nationwide. An award-winning artist, his work is featured in private and corporate collections across the country. He holds Signature memberships with the San Diego Watercolor Society, the California Watercolor Association, and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and has served as an exhibition juror.
Although ALS has forced him to step back from live demonstrations and workshops, Craig continues to enjoy painting and pursuing his lifelong passion. This is made possible by a special device purchased by the Department of Veterans Affairs to stabilize his arm. Craig's watercolor paintings are celebrated for their powerful storytelling and striking interplay of light and shadow.
Supporting ALS Research
The Salmon River Fine Arts Center and artist Craig Anderson will donate 100% of art sales proceeds directly to ALS research. Donations support a special endowment fund through The Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Massachusetts General Hospital, which accelerates clinical trials and therapy development, with every dollar going directly to research.
Craig's featured artwork will also be available on the Salmon River Fine Arts Center's Square website, allowing online visitors across the country to purchase his work and support this important cause.
Additional Gallery Exhibits and Hours
Alongside the Craig Anderson spotlight, visitors can view the annual Hooked on the Salmon River juried exhibition in the main gallery through October 10. This themed showcase features local artwork inspired by the Salmon River and surrounding landscapes.
