Rob Williams will retire on January 3rd after almost fourteen years as Director of the St. Lawrence and Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO PRISM).
The roots of the SLELO PRISM go back to 2011, when The Nature Conservancy partnered with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, and various organizations throughout the St. Lawrence-Eastern Lake Ontario and Tug Hill region, to protect our lands and waters from the impacts of invasive species.
Williams commented, “SLELO’s commitment to reducing invasives and sustaining biodiversity provided a solid foundation to advance land and water protections that benefit people and nature. Over the years, our staff and partnership have made tremendous progress in slowing the spread of invasive species and restoring habitats to their native characteristics."
Williams noted that he is most proud of the SLELO PRISM staff (Brittney Rogers, Megan Shaw, Robert Smith, and Carolyn Koestner) and the committed partners from across the region that make our program a success.” Their contributions to invasive species management and ecological restoration have been instrumental in closing the loop between invasive species impacts, sustaining native biodiversity, and creating climate-resilient lands and waters.
