The event is a timed 5k run/walk and participants will be slimed at several locations along the course. Prizes will be awarded for the top male and female runners in the adult (15 years of age and older) and child (less than 15 years of age) categories.
“Activities similar to the Slime Run for Wishes play a significant role in our organization,” said Make-A-Wish Central New York President and CEO Diane Kuppermann. “Students not only help raise needed funds to grant wishes, but they also become informed advocates for Make-A-Wish, helping raise awareness about our mission today and hopefully long into the future.”
The event is in collaboration with Make-A-Wish Central New York’s Wishmakers on Campus program, a fundraising program designed for college organizations to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions through fundraising events.
Registration is $10 and participants can pre-register online as an individual or on a fundraising team until the day of the event. Upon completing online registration, each participant receives a link to an individualized fundraising page where friends and family can make donations. Fundraising prizes are as follows: $25 raised – T-shirt; $100 raised – sweatshirt; and $125 raised – T-shirt and sweatshirt.
There will be additional on-site registration from 9 - 11:30 a.m. in the Marano Campus Center.
Mark’s Pizzaria and the Oswego Tea Company will provide food and beverages to participants. Additional sponsors include Cam's Pizzeria, Franco's Pizza, Green Planet Grocery, Azteca Mexican Grill and Garafolo's Sandwich Shop.
All proceeds raised from the event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Central New York Chapter. For more information and to pre-register, visit aposlimerunforwishes.kintera.org.
