The Circus Kids’ Production Company visited Leighton Elementary School recently to work with students during Physical Education classes.

Leighton Home and School sponsored the event for the 15th consecutive year.

The teaching artists for the week-long circus activities were Larry Rundle and Ryan Defoe, who provided an exciting week for Leighton students, including a performance to kick off the week.

Pre-K to sixth-grade students each participated in workshops with the teaching artists throughout the week. The sixth-grade class had the opportunity to work with them everyday, culminating with a choreographed performance by the sixth-grade students.

According to event organizers, the goal of the annual circus is to build self-esteem, while motivating students to try their best and persevere. There was truly something for everyone, and students learned a variety of new circus skills, but more importantly, they walked away with smiles on their face, and a strong sense of accomplishment.
