Write a commentWhile a final tally is still unavailable, organizers of last month's "St Baldricks Night in Oswego County" have announced that they have surpassed this year's goal of $75,000 and estimate their 2013 total will exceed $90,000.
"We're very happy with our results," said event organizer Dan Witmer. "We had a fantastic turnout and we had tremendous support from throughout the community. Thanks to anyone and everyone who contributed in any way, large or small. The Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center was a great site, and we're already talking about plans for 2014."
The March 27 event's web site shows more than $70,000, and approximately $20,000 in checks and cash was collected at the event. Proceeds from local schools, restaurants, and photographers' promotions are expected to be added to the tally soon.
Team Sadie was the biggest team, with 34 members, and they raised $13,543. Julian's Army was next, with 15 members and $4394 raised.
In the "Battle of the Badges," Oswego Firefighters (10) raised $5,707; Oswego County Deputies (10) raised $3,961, the U.S. Border Patrol (5) raised $96;, the U.S. Coast Guard (6) raised $950, and the Oswego Police Department (2) raised $385.
