State Singers, College Choir to Offer Vocal Feast in Free Concert

     SUNY Oswego`s State Singers and College Choir will present a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 103 W. Seventh St. in Oswego. Under the direction of Dr. Mihoko Tsutsumi, the college`s director of choral activities, the groups will offer a wide variety of vocal music, from opera to spiritual, from musical theatre to a Brahms classic.

     The men's chorus of the College Choir will open with a traditional sea shanty, "I's Bound Away." By contrast, the chorus also will offer the "Theme from Spider Man," among songs.

     The women's chorus will sing David Brunner's "Jubilate Deo" accompanied by trumpets, trombones and French horn. Other offerings will include "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables."

     State Singers will perform Brahms' "O Schone Nacht," "Brindisi" from the opera "La Traviata" and the spiritual "The Battle of Jericho," among others.

     For the finale, the combined choir will present "Do You Hear the People Sing?" from "Les Miserables."
