SUNY Oswego will celebrate the 50th year of Juried Student Exhibitions with a free artists' reception at 5 p.m. and an awards ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 1, at Tyler Art Gallery.

The 2013 exhibition, featuring at least one piece from each of the 86 students who submitted works for the 50th annual display, will run through March 9.  Graduate students as well as undergraduates were eligible to enter this year.
A companion Art Faculty Exhibition—its reception and display running concurrently with the Juried Student Exhibition in another wing of the gallery—will feature the works of the college's art department faculty in a variety of media, including ceramics, digital media, drawing, painting, photography and sculpture.
Several awards will be presented for the Juried Student Exhibition, including the Presidential Purchase Awards, selected by SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley and the Viewer's Choice Purchase Award by visitors' vote. All such awards will be added to the college's permanent art collection.
Tyler Art Gallery will reopen on its regular schedule, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays starting Saturday, Feb. 2. For information, call 312-2113.
While donations are appreciated, admission is free, though parking on the SUNY Oswego campus requires a permit. Gallery visitors may purchase — either online or at the college's parking office near the main entrance on State Route 104 — a $1 visitor permit to park in Lot E-18, the southern half of the lot behind Hart and Funnelle residence halls. For more information, visit www.oswego.edu/administration/parking.
A selection of works from among the entries for the show will appear Feb. 9 to March 3 at the Oswego State Downtown gallery and store, corner of West First and Bridge streets in Oswego, in an exhibition titled "50th Annual Juried Student Exhibition Extension."
Oswego State Downtown, currently offering an exhibition and sale of small prints to benefit the Red Cross' Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, is open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, call the store at 216-4985.
