The Greater Oswego Business Committee, or GOBC, gathered for one of its monthly meetings from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Cidermoon Coffee & Cafe today.
The GOBC belongs to the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, located at 44 East Bridge Street, Oswego, NY. The GOBC's mission is to address any and all community and business needs within the Oswego area. Nathan Emmons, the new Interim Executive Director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, organizes and run the monthly meetings. Another group, the Oswego Networking Entrepreneurs, or ONE, works to promote the meeting of local business people for the purpose of networking to support and educate local entrepreneurs. The group meets every Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. at The Oswego Tea Company.
Every third Wednesday of the month, ONE and GOBC meet and discuss local matters and concerns. Today's meeting addressed hopes to revisit the goals of Oswego Chamber, along with the revamping of the upcoming Oswego Farmers' Market, returning this Thursday, May 22. This year, the Oswego Chamber encourages more local talent involvement. There will be entertainment and music, open mic nights, street entertainers and additional vendors are all being seriously considered. This year's market is introducing Woodchuck Saloon as a new vendor and features their famous pulled pork barbecue.
iHeartOswego.com and the I Heart Corp is now partnering with Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce this year on many of Oswego's upcoming events and collaborating on creating new events to benefit local business and community. Victoria Usherwood Gailinas, the founder of iHeart, says that the company is encouraged by Emmons' "genuine caring for Oswego and the desire to make the Chamber work harder for all local businesses. It's just one more way to encourage synergistic collaboration between businesses."
The committee urges anyone who wants to become more involved with our local community to attend the monthly meetings and express opinions and concerns about local events and needs. Stay tuned for further updates regarding the GOBC or ONE group.
