The Art Association of Oswego’s latest exhibition, "Lost, But Not Forgotten", which opened on August 17th, had such a positive opening reception that the Art Association has decided to extend the current show until October 13.
"Lost, But Not Forgotten", is an exhibition submitted by members of the Art Association of Oswego of works by their friends and family members who have passed away. Making this exhibition unique is the story associated with each piece, telling the story of the art and the artist that makes the piece noteworthy. This is an exhibition of a wide range of styles of their paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, and mixed-media pieces, one art piece dating back to the late 1800s.
One interesting observation is that the oil paintings from approximately 70 years ago have coloration that is entirely different from an oil painting produced today.
Early comments from the opening reception suggest that the association of the stories about the artwork by members who knew them with the art itself sets this show apart. A number of members said that they were grateful to have the opportunity to share the works of their loved ones with the public.
The Art Association is open to the public Wednesdays 10 am - 2 pm, Saturdays 10 am – 1 pm, and Sundays 1 - 4 pm, and is located at the north end of East 4th Street across from Fort Ontario. For more information please visit the AAO website at www.OswegoArts.org.
