Oswego Middle School recently welcomed 21 new members to the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).

The 2018 NJHS Inductees were: Clara Back, Makayla Bell, Allyson Bruns, Lucas Bruns, Carolena Canale, Jordan Caroccio, Anna Cloonan, Brett Dykas, Mia Fierro, Michael Fierro, Piper Gosek, Sydney Hoefer, Alexander Kielb, Sean Metcalf, Miah Metott, Brayden Miller, Gavin Mills, Addyson St. Onge, Austin Symborski, Marisa Wallace and Kasey Wells.

“You are the future leaders of our schools and communities,” said Oswego Middle School Principal Mary Beth Fierro. “You should be very proud of all that you have accomplished.”

The ceremony included comments from Oswego High School (OHS) National Honor Society (NHS) members about what the organization has meant to them.

“Before NJHS, I barely knew of all the ways I could contribute to my community,” said OHS National Honor Society Co-President Rose Huang. “I will graduate knowing that I have contributed in some way, impacting someone’s life, and there is nothing more rewarding than that.”

“Being a member has helped me develop the fundamentals of being a true leader and positive role model,” said OHS NHS Secretary Grace Bruns. “NJHS shines light on the importance of being involved in the community.”

NJHS recognizes outstanding middle school students for more than just honor roll. These students have demonstrated scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship.
