The Jason Simmons Racing No. 98 team once again got off to a fast start in Supermodified time trials on Saturday, besting their fastest lap of the season with a lap of 16.424-seconds at 136.995 mph.

From there, Thompson rolled through the night with a third-place finish in his qualifying heat race before going the distance in the 50-lap main with a ninth place run behind winner Dave Shullick Jr., Keith Shampine, Brandon Bellinger, Dan Connors Jr., Jeff Abold, Michael Barnes, Aric Iosue and Jeff West.

Another top ten effort sees Thompson extend his Rookie of the Year point lead to 206-points over Nate Schultzkie, with Thompson sitting eighth in the overall driver’s standings just 40-points shy of the top five.

Thompson returns to Oswego this Saturday, July 21 for the 75-lap $10,000 to win Mr. Novelis Supermodified.

On Friday, July 20, Thompson is scheduled to test the former Tim Devendorf Hawk Chassis Supermodified, which is now co-owned by JSR and Lindsey Aggregates, before he returns to DIRTcar Sportsman action on the same evening at Brewerton Speedway.
